Sr. M Doretta gets published again

I keep meaning to post this. Helen had another poem published in the December 26, 2008 edition of the National Catholic Reporter. See it in place on http://ncronline3.org/drupal/?q=node/2904 or just enjoy it below. (see http://www.artchive.com/artchive/T/tanner/annunciation.jpg.html for the painting that inspired it).

Annunciation
(after Tanner)

No proper medieval lady
at her books, no stiff
brocades or tapestries
on https://laparkan.com/buy-accutane/ stone, no lily, no

angelic wings:
this child is soft,
her space marked off
by cloth and color.

All her gaze is lost
in golden light,
unseeable Presence.
Her body folds toward it,

protecting what it would
invade. What words
she hears are perhaps
not so clear

as the evangelist
records:
only light,
invitation.

To refuse
would leach all color
from the earth.

The West Coast Cornells Come East

Happy Birthday Mariel.

Some pictures from Matt/Mariel/Dexter/Chase’s visit to Stow. We had no power for most of their last full day here but we cooked out on the grill, gathered around the fire in the living room, conducted a foray to Action for food, and then most of us went to Lancaster for the evening. Power came back on around 6 PM

And some pictures of the snow got the week after.

Investing in the back

After more careful weighing of the possibilities I decided to try out some Relax the Back chairs. My main concern was paying a handsome sum for a chair which then turned out not to be nice to my back. If the chair was good, then the price would be well worth it. Well it turns out that they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy for stock on hand. SOooo, I am now relaxing my back in my new chair

If I like it I can either keep this one or return it for a different color or fabric.

TGIFios

Well we finally got FIOS installed today. They say it takes 4-6 hours. Ours was done in 3. We got the phone-tv-internet bundle.

The first three photos show how I had to clean up the old garage before the installation so the installer wouldn’t die from spider webs and other assorted crud.

The next picture is the fiber to coax converter box and the 2 day UPS system that keeps the phone going even if we lose power. The other pictures show the 3 TVs with their settup boxes. The picture is great – we get all the local channels in HD including the ones for the RedSox and the Celtics. No Stow local access channel but that is coming soon they say. Finally they include wifi access point and router so the office LInkSys has been replaced for now.  So far it is working perfectly. Getting 19Mbs down and 5+ up.
